On the Achievable Closed Loop Performance for Decentralized Control Structures

چکیده
The paper addresses the effect of interactions on the performance of decentralized control systems. Most existing tools for analyzing the effect of interactions assume perfect control up to the system bandwidth, and furthermore neglect the phase contributions from subsystem interactions. Here we show that for most systems, and in particular large scale systems, the assumption of perfect control is a poor one. Furthermore, we show that the phase contributions of the interactions can be crucial both for stability and performance. Based on this we develop a new tool, based on finite bandwidth control, for measuring interactions in decentralized control systems. We demonstrate how this tool may be used to select configurations that provide the best performance under independent tuning of the subsystems.

Coordination of a Bi-Level Closed-Loop Supply Chain considering Economic and Green Transportation Modes
In recent years, comprehensive researches have provided ample support for the supply chains in the coordinated decision-making framework. However, the issue of closed-loop supply chain coordination considering various transportation modes has not yet been addressed in the literature. In this paper, a two-echelon closed-loop supply chain consisting of a manufacturer and a retailer is investigate...
متن کاملHigh-performance decentralized control design for general interconnected systems with applications in cooperative control
This paper deals with the decentralized control of an interconnected system, where each subsystem has models of all other subsystems (subject to uncertainty). A decentralized controller is constructed based on a reference centralized controller. It is shown that when a priori knowledge of each subsystem about the other subsystems’ models is exact, then the decentralized closed-loop system can p...

متن کاملScreening Plant Designs and Control Structures for Uncertain Systems
-Screening tools are developed which provide nonconservative estimates of the achievable performance in the presence of general structured model uncertainty. These tools allow the rational selection among plant designs, or can be applied to provide recommedations on how to modify a plant design to improve the closed loop performance. Many of these tools are applicable to the pairing or partitio...
متن کاملIsolation for Flexible Space Structures: Zeros-based and Decentralized Control Approaches
The transmission zeros of a flexible space structure (FSS) depend on the locations at which its sensors and actuators are positioned, and provide a great deal of information concerning the closed-loop performance that is achievable with this sensor/actuator arrangement. Furthermore, the zeros of non-collocated structures possess entirely different properties than those of the zeros of collocate...
